The Roaring River Fire Bomber?
When you devote yourself to the truth, life doesn’t always turn out as expected.
Oregon sent 60 Fire Trucks…only for them to be stopped in Sacramento for ‘Emissions Testing’
10 January 2025
I saw that headline from several sources at about that date, called bullshit and didn’t read further.
Over the next week, I noticed that a lot of arsonists began turning up in Los Angeles. My default assumption was copycats, except the “arsonists” were laughably incompetent and somehow managed to get caught every single time. (No new fires breaking out AFAIK.) I began to wonder if the City was trying to deflect attention away from the homeless & migrant problem that almost certainly started the Palisades fire (and others), by staging false flags after the fact.
And then…
He pulled up to Palisades fire with a fire engine and an offer to help. It was fake, authorities say

PACIFIC PALISADES, CALIF JANUARY 7, 2024 - The Palisades fire is being pushed by gusting Santa Ana winds that were expected to continue for two more days.
Two people who have been arrested on suspicion of impersonating firefighters arrived at the Palisades fire in a decommissioned fire engine, police say. (Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department)
Some other looters have been arrested for impersonating firefighters, too, the clothing is not restricted, but a full-size, street-legal fire engine? That suggests an organization.
The fire truck pulled up to a checkpoint Saturday morning near where emergency workers were sifting through the wreckage caused by the Palisades fire.
The driver told the National Guard troops manning the perimeter that he was a volunteer firefighter, a law enforcement source with knowledge of the incident told The Times.
They had little reason to believe otherwise, said the official, who wasn't authorized to speak with the media and requested anonymity. The man was wearing a yellow firefighter uniform — and he was driving a full-size red fire engine outfitted with emergency lights, California license plates and an American flag.
But a firefighter at the checkpoint noticed something off about the decals on the truck, which had markings from the "Roaring River Fire Department," the official said. He told Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies to check the man's ID.
According to the law enforcement official, the man presented an Oregon driver's license with the name of Dustin Nehl. A search of Nehl's criminal history revealed he had served five years in prison for arson, the official said.
A man came down from Oregon… in a California-licensed fire engine… at the same time Oregon sent a large fleet of firefighting rigs… what was that about some of them being stopped for “emissions inspection”?
That doesn’t look like a cheap rig, secondhand or no. It was reportedly decommissioned 30 years ago in Northern California.
In 2017, KATU, a Portland TV station, reported that Nehl pleaded guilty to setting a series of fires at a golf course, a park and a water facility in Woodburn, Ore., a city about 30 miles south of Portland.
Nehl, 31, and his wife, 44-year-old Jennifer Nehl — who was with him — were arrested on suspicion of impersonating firefighters and unauthorized entry of an evacuation zone, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department officials said Sunday. Sheriff’s officials said they planned to ask the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office to charge the couple on Tuesday.
Heh, Dustin robbed the grave instead of the cradle. Self-respecting men rarely take brides that much older.
I reviewed the headlines of Sacramento delaying fire trucks, but it turned up only a couple unsourced & deleted texts that had apparently been amplified by pundit Dinesh D’Souza. Pretty much what I’d originally assumed. My attention turned to the perp.
Woodburn man sentenced to 5 years in prison for multi-year crime spree

WOODBURN, Ore. – A 24-year-old man was sentenced to 5 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to a series of crimes that stretched back to a fire at Woodburn Estates & Golf in 2013.
Dustin Nehl, of Woodburn, pleaded guilty to committing several crimes against the golf course, and the City of Woodburn’s water facility and Centennial Park locations.
The crimes involved setting fires and homemade combustible devices.
"These convictions and sentence are significant and bring to a close a reign of criminal activity that burdened the Woodburn community for several years. We are grateful for the work by our police department and our partnership with the District Attorney's Office in holding Mr. Nehl accountable for his crimes," said Woodburn Police Chief Jim Ferraris.
Nehl was sentenced to 5 years with the Department of Corrections, and 3 years’ post-prison supervision.
He was also ordered to pay restitution to the people who had to pay for damages related to his crimes.
Either he’s breaking parole or he got early release… hey, his youTube channel is still up! Social media is usually gone by the time I pick up a topic.

Same name… looks like him… he’s posing with a $$$ Hummer after restitution & incarceration? The channel seems to be a family documentary. Context is thin, but many of the videos are apparently Dustin visiting auctions of farm equipment. Others are about milling & lumber industry, so that’s probably how he bounced back from jail. Good to see him overcoming a misspent early life… uh-oh…
That last video… Nehl’s infant daughter died three weeks ago. No cause given.
A week later, a bridge collapse derailed a train near where he lived, for which he twice uploaded personal video. He didn’t previously cover crime or similar topics. Two weeks after that, he was arrested at the Palisades Fire with (per some accounts) burglary tools in his fire truck.
Family trauma can precede a relapse into past criminal behavior.
From the comments of the 8-days-ago video… these were all dated post-California arrest:

Did you cause this Dustin?Reply by M13:
I thought it was curious that two bridges collapsed so closely together - both in location & timing - when it happened. With the arrests, prior conviction, and general sense of behavior - I think these bridges need to be investigated for criminal tampering / sabotage.

Lol now you’re on the news
Now there’s an unexpected plot twist. I started this post wondering if maybe there was a political angle to a convicted arsonist with a fire engine being briefly detained by the Gruesome Newsom Cartel, instead I may have uncovered the perp who sabotaged a train bridge in Oregon.
Two videos of only one train bridge collapse, contra that one commenter.

January 6, 2025 - City of Corvallis public safety officials have concluded their initial response at the site of a January 4 trestle bridge incident near Avery Park in Corvallis. The wooden trestle experienced a structural failure, causing a rail car operated by Portland & Western Railroad Inc. to fall into the Marys River. The train was carrying agricultural fertilizer components.
Ammonia, apparently.
First responders from Corvallis Police and Fire were on scene for about six hours on Saturday, January 4 to stabilize the event and ensure public safety. The incident has been turned over to Portland & Western for cleanup, which could run several days.
The railroad company moved quickly to deploy resources to the scene of the incident. Recovery efforts to remove the train cars are underway. The railroad company is coordinating with state agencies on environmental assessments. Corvallis officials note that City's main water intake on the Willamette River is located about two miles upstream of the incident site, so there is no risk of contamination for the City's drinking water supply.
I hope that incident wasn’t what put “Roaring River” on his ride. So yeah, he really was just a copycat/looter who happened to own a real fire engine, looking to cash in on a disaster. So far as he’s been charged.
